Unscramble any handful of letters

Type or paste a jumble of letters. Letterbox checks them against a dictionary of common English words and shows you every word you can spell, longest first.

Letters only, up to 20 characters.

How the word unscrambler works

Enter the letters you have, then press Unscramble. The tool lists every word you can spell using some or all of those letters. Each letter can be used only as many times as it appears in what you typed, so “book” needs two o’s.

Results are grouped by length, longest first. Use the filters to narrow them down: pick a starting or ending letter, require a letter pattern such as “qu”, or show only words of one length.

Tips for word games

Try the longest group first, then work down. If you are stuck on a crossword or a Scrabble rack, the Starts with and Contains filters help you fit words around letters already on the board.
